Our ability to interact effectively with the world around us is directly related to the extent to which our internal reality (real self) accurately reflects external reality (ideal self).

For example, you may present to the world that you are a caring person (external reality), but you feel a yearning to invade an arab state (internal reality).

In this case you have a gap between your internal reality and your external reality. Is it just attention seeking, or worse, a personality disorder?
