Are your customers large corporations or small businesses? |
| We supply a top quality service to large and small businesses alike. We have a customer base of around 600, which includes a number of FTSE100 companies and many small and medium size enterprises (SMEs). |
Which industries do you carry out work for? |
| A very wide range of industries use our non-destructive testing (NDT) services. The most common are railway, engineering, construction, fabrication, foundry, mining, petro-chemical, off-shore, power generation, aerospace, gas and nuclear industries. |
Do Applied Inspection have a maximum size job that they can take on? |
| We are now sufficiently big to handle most large NDT jobs. For example, our biggest single UK contract is currently worth in excess of 1,000,000 pounds sterling (Approx. 1,500,000 US dollars), and our biggest single contract overseas (now completed) was worth in excess of 500,000 pounds sterling (Approx. 750,000 US dollars). |
Do Applied Inspection have a minimum size job that they are prepared to take on? |
| We have a minimum charge for both laboratory and site jobs, which equates approximately to 4 hours work. |
Do you employ full time staff, or are you mainly reliant on sub-contract staff? |
| Unlike most of our competitors our workforce, totalling now over 90, comprises almost entirely full time employees. Many are very experienced and have been with the company over 10 years. |
Does Applied Inspection carry out site radiography? |
| Yes, both x-ray and gamma ray. We are subject to the requirements of the various regulations and Health and Safety Executive requirements, which usually means that 7 days notice is required before first visiting a site. During this time we will also need to carry out a risk assessment. |
Does Applied Inspection carry out work at short notice? |
| Yes. We offer a 24 hours per day, 7 days per week service. But site radiography is subject to restrictions as above. |
Which geograhic areas does Applied Inspection Cover? |
| We are predominantly UK based. Our 3 laboratories receive work from all over the North and Midlands. However, site work covers the whole of the UK and overseas. For example, we have completed contracts in France, USA, Hong Kong, South Korea, Qatar, Egypt, Austria, Nigeria, Spain, Germany, Italy, Holland, Barbados, Kenya, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh and Iran. |
Are your ASNT NDT Level IIIs internally examined? |
| No. All of our ASNT Level IIIs are externally examined by ASNT. |
